Philip Waddington was born
in Stockport in 1974 and began studying the piano and the violin at the age
of twelve, and the organ aged 16. His love of choral music and the organ in
particular developed whilst he was a member of his local parish church
choir. In 1992 he went to the University of Liverpool where he studied for a
B.A.(hons) degree in music, majoring in performance and composition, and
also completed an Organ Scholarship. During this time he continued gave
organ recitals at many venues, composed several anthems for use in church
services, and trained as a Choral Conductor. Following his degree Philip
studied for a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (music), and became a
teacher, whilst also undertaking duties as organist at Stockport Parish
Church. He is now Organist and Choirmaster at S. Elisabeth's Church,
Reddish, Musical Director of Reddish Choral Society, has his own private
teaching practice, and is active in music teaching in schools. He continues
to compose music for the church, as well as music for school ensembles.
Philip is also a Fellow of the National College of Music and Arts, London,
as well as a member of a number of other organisations and musical
societies. |
